Guide to Getting Started in the Nachmund Campaign

Return to Campaign Rules

Getting Started with your Primary Army

Step One: Pick the Order of Battle for your Primary Army. You can use an existing roster or a start a new one. In either case, follow all the normal rules for Crusade narrative play.

Step Two: Pick a Team for your Primary Army Team. Imperial forces will usually select between two teams. Chaos is one team. Xenos is one team.

Step Three: Command Limit--is your Order of Battle more than 3,000 pts? If it is, pick up to 3,000pts to commit to the initial stages of the campaign and make a note of it. You can bring more stuff later.

If your army is not more than 3,000pts, don't worry about this step.

Step Three: Select a Spec Ops Kill Team Roster--if you're going to be playing Kill Team games as part of this campaign, select that roster and follow all normal rules for Spec Ops narrative play. It can be an existing roster from the Summer 2024 campaign or a new roster. Your Kill Team should be the same Team as your Primary Army but it does not need to share a faction. Your primary army could be Tau Xenos, for example, while you play a Veteran Guardsmen Kill Team, representing auxiliaries in service to the Tau. By the same token, you could be playing a Chaos Daemons Primary Army and a Fellgor Ravager Kill Team, etc.

Step Four: Pick a Homeworld Bonus for your Primary Army (more information to come soon).

Step Five: Declare a territorial challenge and/or answer another player's challenge! Consult the Territories page and decide where you're going to strike! Announce your intentions on Discord and see if your challenge is answered and coordinate games!

The play week begins Sunday morning each week. Try to announce your territorial challenges by Monday evening and schedule the related games accordingly. If scheduling the games is difficult, consider getting other members of your team to stand in for you and consider standing in for someone else! Pick up games not associated with a territorial challenge can be played any time.

If you win your territorial challenge game, you will gain control of the territory and can begin Subjugating, Converting, or Purging the territory. If no one responds to your Territorial Challenge by Saturday evening, you have claimed the territory uncontested and can begin Subjugating, Converting, or Purging the territory.
