The Emperor's Light into the Dark
Sword Brother Syvand has a number of Neophytes and Initiates sworn in service to him. His honorable battle brothers are Intercessors Til Ritter, Ulrich Kaldenborn, Jonas von Rohtigen, Augustin Bresch, and Eckhart Stolte. Yet others serve in a reserve capacity, training and preparing for battle. To outsiders, Syvand's Crusaders serve as knight-errants aboard their Gladius-Class Frigate, the Lance of Hope. In truth, Syvand's knights answer the call of Urfan legates embedded throughout the Nachmund sector.
The Crusaders deploy planet-side via a Stormraven Gunship, piloted by a Techmarine attached to their unit. In ritual training and in combat, each of them is highly individualistic, little concerned for squad tactics or combat doctrines. The Intercession Squad's arsenal sub-vaults are loaded with dozens of weapons from Sword Brother Syvand's personal collection and the Templar go into battle with blades and bolters aplenty. Each revels in bringing a blessed weapon to bear against a hated foe and each honors the oaths sworn to attain the mission objective.
When the Black Ship, Succession began moving through the Nachmund Gauntlet, it was escorted by one of the Urfan Regency's Hunter-Class Destroyers. The Templar ship was lost when the Space Hulk attacked. Carrying one of the sacred Urfan auto-divinators, the ship's recovery is of the utmost concern to the Regent Rechiard I Gaiseric, Lord Marshal of the Urfan Crusade. The ship must be recovered, the brethren avenged, and the Space Hulk's blasphemy expunged. It must be done at any cost and there shall be no pity, no remorse, and no fear.
