Primed to Blow

A wide array of factions -- Imperium agents, xenos, pirates, and merchants -- have secured blackstone remnants from every corner of the Reprevarium shallows. Now they rush to collect their spoils in the form of artefacts, currency, and favor from Duke Armentanus. The Fulminating Antipathy still looms over Occularia Waypoint. Yet, the mortal forces at play in this region of the galaxy can see a longer game. Those who save Occularia will be primed to rule it, or at the least, to see its future ruler work for their benefit.

In their rush to count their winnings, some of those teams have overlooked the opportunism of their rivals. As deliveries of blackstone begin to arrive at Occularia proper, surprise raids have sprung up. The outcome of these last minute battles will determine who truly reaps the rewards of all the blackstone scavenging.

Meanwhile, intrepid analysts and explorers on the space hulk, at the behest of the Duke himself, have made progress toward understanding its inner workings. The energy source at the core of the beast, that thrumming eldritch power whose vibrations permeate the entire structure and even the nearby shallows beyond, is still a mystery. An equally exciting discovery has been made within; that of a sleeping Standard Template Construct, a sentient intelligence repository from the dark ages. Scans suggest that it may be partially reactivated using the control systems within the space hulk. With luck, it may divulge the knowledge necessary to properly apply the blackstone artefacts so as to render the Fulminating Antipathy's dread power core inert.

Mission Overview

Teams are zeroing in on the defeat and capture of the space hulk. Delivering recently acquired blackstone artefacts to the Duke will earn favor and wealth. While tapping into the sleeping STC will provide intelligence that is both actionable and profitable.

Landing Zone Raid

An ambush awaits your team as they land at Occularia to deliver their bounty. There is no hope of pushing through intact. The only option is to escape back to the ship and find a safer port.

MISSION RULES
Boxed In: In the Scouting step, if the Defender selects the Recon option, they may not perform a Dash action, but may redeploy one friendly operative to anywhere wholly within their drop zone. Note that in this mission, neither player has a killzone edge.

Defensive Position: While a Defender’s operative has a Conceal order and is within the Defender’s drop zone, it is always treated as having a Conceal order, regardless of any other rules (e.g. Vantage Point).

When a Defender's operative is incapacitated, after it is removed from the killzone, place a Fallen Operative token in its place. Defender's operatives can perform the Pick Up action on a Fallen Operative token they control.

Each objective marker represents a landing signal. Use the marker's light side as ON, and the marker's dark side as OFF. All objective markers begin ON.

The Ferratonic Furnace has the Vantage Point trait. The ramparts around the platform have the Light and Traversable traits. The ladders have the Heavy and Scalable traits. All other parts of it have the Heavy trait.

All operatives can perform the following mission action:

OPERATE LANDING SIGNAL1AP
An operative can perform this action while within ⚪ of an objective marker controlled by friendly operatives. Flip the objective marker to its opposite side.

The Defender's operatives can perform the following mission action:

ESCAPE TO SHIP1AP
An operative can perform this action while it is on the platform of the Ferratonic Furnace with an Engage order, and one or more objective markers (landing signals) are ON. Remove that operative and any Fallen Operative tokens it is carrying from the killzone.

MISSION OBJECTIVE
At the end of each Turning Point, score VPs as follows:

  • The Defender scores 1VP for each objective marker that is ON.
  • The Attacker scores 2VP for each objective marker that is OFF.

At the end of the battle, score VPs as follows:

  • The Defender scores 4VP for each full quarter (rounded down) of their operatives that were removed via the ESCAPE TO SHIP action. Fallen Operative tokens count as an operative. (E.g. if at least half of the team, but less than three quarters escaped, the Defender would score 8VP. If the entire team escaped, the Defender scores 16VP.)

MISSION BONUS
If you scored 3 or more VPs from Seek and Destroy Tac Ops during this battle, you gain 1 additional Requisition point.

SPEC OPS BONUS
If you are victorious as the Attacker and are undertaking the Elimination Spec Op, reduce by 1 the number of games required to complete that Spec Op’s Operation 1.

If you are victorious as the Defender and are undertaking the Breakout Spec Op, reduce by 1 the number of games required to complete that Spec Op’s Operation 1.


Awaken STC Cores

The ancient intelligence in these walls has slept for millennia. Though the power supports are weak, they can be rerouted long enough for the machine to answer questions about the space hulk.

MISSION RULES
Operatives can perform the Plant Charge and Detonate Charge mission actions, as well as the following mission actions:

AWAKEN CONTROL CORES1AP
An operative can perform this action while it controls a Relay Station (E3) or Control Lectern (E2) Console terrain feature that has not been accessed during this Turning Point. Until the start of the next Turning Point, that terrain feature has been accessed. Select one Augur Display (E1) or Hololith Dais (E4) Console terrain feature to be online until the start of the next Turning Point.
ACCESS DORMANT CONSOLE1AP
An operative can perform this action while it controls an online Augur Display (E1) or Hololith Dais (E4) Console terrain feature that has not been accessed during this Turning Point. Until the start of the next Turning Point, that terrain feature has been accessed.

MISSION OBJECTIVE
Each time a friendly operative performs the Awaken Control Cores or Access Dormant Console mission action, you score 1VP.

At the end of each Turning Point:

  • If friendly operatives control more Augur Display (E1) Console terrain features than enemy operatives do, you score 1VP.
  • If friendly operatives control more Control Lectern (E2) Console terrain features than enemy operatives do, you score 1VP.

MISSION BONUS
If you were victorious and friendly operatives performed the Access Dormant Console mission action at three or more Console terrain features, you gain 1 Requisition point.

If an operative performed the ACCESS DORMANT CONSOLE action during the battle, it gains 1XP.

SPEC OPS BONUS
Information Gathered: If you are victorious and are currently undertaking the Infiltrate the Enemy Spec Op, then reduce by 1 the number of games required to complete that Spec Op’s Operation 1.
