Fairlight Raiders Lore
The Fairlight
The namesake of the crew is the Aeldari starship Fairlight. Its name is a Imperium approximation of the Aeldari, Fear'rhy Leiult (lit. 'vessel which gazes upon the heavens'). It is of similar design to Shadow-class Aeldari vessels, though equipped with fewer weapons. The ship originally belonged to the Noble House of Adenowyr. It was designed as a luxury vessel for use in recreational and sporting excursions.
It is powered by an Infinity Turbine, an engine that bares some resemblance to the Craftworlds' Infinity Circuits. At impulse power, the ship emits almost no energy signature, and the residual trace that escapes has been carefully filtered to match the background radiation found in most of the galaxy. It is exceptionally nimble in this mode, even enough to traverse the smaller corridors of the Webway. However, with its energy sails full extended, the Fairlight becomes truly impressive. It can cruise and maneuver at speeds that greatly outpace the bulk of Imperium vessels. With this combination, the ship can stealthily enter close range and allow its crew to conduct surprise raids, then escape fast enough to evade reprisal.
The ship was thought lost in the fall, until it was recovered and reactivated by Lady Ylleth.
Prince Kael'is Serenti
(KAYL-iss sair-en-TEA) Kael'is is a pirate with an enigmatic reputation. Though a skilled tactician, he is more well known for his charisma and poetic musings. He spent many years with the Eldritch Raiders before joining with Lady Ylleth. Prior to life as an outcast, he walked the Path of Command on craftworld Mymeara, well on his way to becoming an Autarch. After many years of stalemate battles, he wrote the poem Fading Light and became one of the Anhrathe.
Lady Ylleth, Last of the House of Adenowyr
(ee--LETH ah-den-oh-WEER) Unlike many of the Anhrathe who style themselves with noble titles, Ylleth is a true descendant of the noble houses of the old Aeldari empire. Millennia spent on craftworld Mymeara helped to hone her survival instincts and focus, but she never forgot her early years of life, when her proud house collapsed and left her ambitions unfulfilled. Ylleth's journey to becoming a corsair began when she recovered a soul stone belonging to a noble relative. Its soul whispered of the greatness their name once embodied... and perhaps could once again. Ylleth was soon consumed by an unrelenting drive to learn more of her house's history. She joined with expeditions to the edges of the Eye of Terror and other Crone worlds -- anywhere that the soul stones of her family might still remain.
